Matinicus Rock Bird Refuge
The  28-acre island is a principal breeding site for Arctic terns on the Maine coast and has a highly diverse and productive seabird colony. I highlight a couple of links that provide more information. Of particular note is Project Puffin started in 1973 by The National Audubon Society to learn how to restore puffins to nesting islands in the Gulf of Maine. This is an award winning web site that includes movies and Puffin Cam Highlights. Another site of interest can be found here.
